ARCHITECT, always prominent, assumed command in the early stretch and drew clear to win with speed to spare. G. R. PETERSEN faltered badly after setting the pace, but managed to last over WARPATH. The latter closed willingly. SEER outbroke the opposition, but was unable to retain his advantage. SERGEANT MONK displayed good speed and faltered. IDEALIST unseated his rider and ran off about a half mile prior to the start. TIGER JAY weakened early. VAL-0-VAL was never a factor. PREACHER improved his position steadily after breaking tardily, moved boldly from the outside to assume command and held sway under urging. KOULI KHAN rallied from far back and seemed a bit rank during the drive. WHITE HAWK raced well to the early stretch and, after being impeded, continued on gamely. RELIC GOLD raced evenly. RECORD PLAYER raced NETHERBY into defeat to attain a clear lead on the final turn, then gave way. NETHERBY flattened out badly through the stretch. TIMBER TOPPER quit. CROONING WIND, rated early, reached the leader when roused and just missed. REPOSE failed to offer a threat and made a very bad landing at the twelfth jump. LECHE HOMBRE dropped back steadily. MISS PRESIDENT attained a clear lead rapidly, turned back the challenge of ELLEN DEAS nearing the stretch to again draw clear, then lasted over TOTO. The latter was sluggish early, took the overland course and closed full of run. ELLEN DEAS challenged the leader nearing the stretch and weakened. SAIL CLOTH raced forwardly, but failed to respond. The latter broke slower than usual, was rushed throuah along the inside to reach contention leaving the backstretch, then faltered in the final quarter. IN MY BONES, rated while in close attendance to the pace, gained a commanding lead nearing the stretch and gave way. PINE VISION showed an even effort. EPIC CHANCE closed fastest of all. VERA CONNELLY failed to reach prominence. EAGLE SPEED, in close quarters early, failed to gain a forward position and was again taken up sharply entering the stretch.
