I 1 Named Columbia Cage Coach NEW YORK, N. Y., June 21 UP .—Gordon Ridings formally stepped down as head basketball coach at Columbia University today and Lou Rossini, who filled in as "act- ing" head coach last season, was named to succeed him permanently. Rossini, who was assistant coach when Ridings became ill, guided the Lions to 22 straight victories during the regular season and was named coach - of - the - year by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association.
