Raise Distance Race Values Not Carded in Delaware Book DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Dell., June 21. — In an effort to attract more horses into distance races, the Delaware Park management is raising the values of extra races not shown in the condition book by adding substitute races at a mile and a sixteenth or better. Racing secretary Gil Haus has been authorized to add 00 to ,000 to any distance event which he considers would thus become more attractve to owners and trainers. It is estimated that approximately 0,000 will be given in so-called bonus money to the distance runners during the last eleven days of the meeting. Delaware officials are anxious to see more distance races and larger fields competing at distance other than six furlongs. Therefore, they are placing a premium on distance races and hope that some trainers will try to stretch out a horse which has been regarded as strictly a sprinter.
