Short Tint, Money Broker Duo Choice for Sheboygan Forrests Oratory, Uncle Fud to Cut Figure in Detroit Headliner By DON FAIR Itaff Correspondent DETROIT, Mich., June 4.— The Sheboygan, a four and one-half furlongs dash for two-year-olds, is the main attraction on a well-balanced program scheduled for decision tomorrow at this correctly appointed Motor City racing grounds. Nine of the shiftiest youngsters quartered at the Detroit race course are entered in the high grade claiming offering, which shapes up as a most suitable "off day" feature. G and G Stables Short Tint, a speedy daughter of Tintagel and Short Measure, and her useful stablemate, Money Broker, form a powerful entry for the Sheboygan and the duo, trained by Vester .Wright, probably will go postward choice. Tommy Barrow, crack journeyman reinsman, is slated to handle one of the G and G establishment starters in the Thursday head-liner. Short Tint gets in the race with a 113-pound burden while Money Broker, a handsome chestnut colt, the get of Half Continued on Page Five Short Tint, Money Broker Duo Choice for Sheboygan Forrests Oratory, Uncle Fud to Cut Figure in Detroit Headliner Continued from Page One Crown and Chartreuse H., will shoulder 120 pounds. Short Tints major opposition undoubtedly will be furnished by Henry Forrests Oratory and Mrs. H. Allen Campbells Roman Jean, which pair bowed to the G and G Stable filly the last time the trio met at Churchill Downs on April 28. Short Tint stepped four and one-half furlongs over the Derby strip in :53%, whipping Roman Jean by slightly more than two lengths, while Oratory was third just a neck away. The return meeting of these three youngsters should develop into one of the best two-year-old contests of the current Michigan season. Oratory is to take up 112 pounds in the Sheboygan, Roman Jean will have a 114-pound burden and jockey Lois Cook will handle the latter filly. Uncle Fud, 112 pounds, is to race coupled with Oratory and he has shown speed in several engagements during his brief career. Roman Jean, the get of Roman and Suzanne Peck, looked good here last week when she whipped a fair field at the Sheboygan distance on a slow track.. While Short Tint, winner of her last two starts and four of eight engagements, appears to have a royal chance to continue her victory skein, Money Broker certainly cannot be counted out of the Sheboygan and could make it rough for Jiis more highly-regarded stable companion should he turn in a "big race." The Half Crown-sired colt defeated Good Times, Teacher K„ and Uncle Fud, among others, on May 28 and, previous to that conquest, he visited the Churchill Downs "winners ring, trimming such quick racers as Lark Sun, Slithereen and Babys Delight. Kenneth Noe, one-time riding star and the trainer of a pretentious stable here this season, not only will saddle Roman Jean but also will start Mallia and Whites Trip-line, 109 pounds. The latter colt, progeny of Triplicate and Carolie F., was a good winner during the Keeneland meeting and he finished second in his last local appearance to P. L. Hallums Halrack, who beat him three-quarters length in the Grand Circus Park Purse. Halrack is to go tomorrow in the Sheboygan and the Haltal colt is to have the saddle services of capable Alfred Popara, who was successful with three of his mounts yesterday. Others named for the Thursday dash are Grace Kosiba Stables Head East, 112, and Torrance C. Melroses homebred Terrible Terry, 106 pounds. The Kosiba unit representative, a bay son of Easton and Miss I. Q., romped to an easy verdict yesterday over mediocre opposition, while Terrible Terry, a Mel Eppley sired gelding was beaten off in his only engagement. Before the Melrose hope was shipped to Detroit, he breezed three-eighths mile in :35% at Louisville and probably will show improvement in the Sheboygan inasmuch as he was unable to handle the muddy going which prevailed here when he made his initial outing. Perhaps the best supporting number on the Thursday card is the one mile and 70 yards fifth, in which Barbara A. Brocks Well Met is the early choice to whip seven other useful middle distance performers. Well Met, who is to be ridden by Popara, is to clash with Jerry McCarthy Stables Pharos Dream and Mattie Girl; David Zakoors Narviko, a recent winner at the local oval; Mrs. D. Michealedes Sailing Home, Rhoda Christmas homebred Maryland invader, Nipping; Arlington Farms Basla, and Mrs. M. C. McConnells Hi Bob, successful in five 1951 outings and a good winner during the New Orleans winter season. Post time for the initial event tomorrow will be at the regular hour, 3 :45 p. m. and present indications point to a fast track and clear skies for the Thursday sport.
