Breeders Association " Is Official Registrar • Colorado Commission Sanctions Group for State Homebred Races IJTTLETON, Colo., June 4.— The Colorado Racing Commission served notice today that hereafter the Colorado Breeders Association will be recognized as the official registration body for horses foaled in this state. Commission chairman Max Brooks, in announcing the decision, emphasized the point that in granting this power it must be understood the Breeders Association rulings must conform with the Colorado Rules of Racing as recently amended. •Colorado-breds are defined as: "Horses foaled in Colorado and owned by bona fide Colorado breeders, are those foaled or dropped by the mare within the legal limits of the State of Colorado, withoutregard to where the mating has occurred." The rule specifically states that, "Mares brought in for the expressed purpose of foaling by outside breeders and then re-, moved from the state, shall not be con-* strued as Colorado-bred. Harry Eliason of Denver and Dr. R. Scott Jackson of Fort Collins, president and secretary respectively of the Breeders Association, are setting up the machinery for registration of Colorado-breds. The Certificate of Registration issued by The Jockey Club, parent body of American Thoroughbred racing, will be counter-stamped by the Breeders Association, officially recognizing the foal as being Colorado-bred. In order to be eligible for a Colorado-bred race, a horse must have certified approval from the Breeders* Association. The deadline for compliance with the new ruling is July 10, the day before Centennial Race Track opens its 50-day meeting. Centennials top feature for Colorado-breds is the Colorado Breeders Stakes, to be run August 9, at five furlongs for two-year-olds. The race is expected to gross more than ,500. Nominations for this event closed April 15 with 57 horses entered. A second payment of 0 must be made by midnight July 1 to maintain eligibility. Centennial also will program daily races for Colorado-breds.
