KING TAOS improved position steadily on the outside, was forced wide at the final turn, assumed command and bore over to the inside, was straightened and held SAINT GEORGES safe.. The latter moved between horses to gain a forward position in the stretch, but lacked a late drive. TIPSY II. outran the field to set the pace most of the trip, raced wide entering the final turn and weakened. WAR RIPPLE closed from off the pace. HY GINNIS was unable to keep up. HARD HITTER moved with a rush around horses to engage the leader, was carried wide and failed to regain stride in time. ABBYS RHYMER weakened. The others were outrun. SMILING EYES, a forward factor along the inside, gained room between horses in the stretch and was along to outfinish RAPT. The latter forced the pace, drew on .even terms for command in the stretch, bore in slightly and was hampering riders chances near the end. MISS HEIDI, taken .to the outside for the drive, closed resolutely. WORLD EXPRESS lacked a late drive. HASHER was closing fastest of all on the, extreme outside. GERHAM went evenly. B., outrun early, remained along the inside entering the stretch, came to the outside after being straightened for the drive and edged to the front in the final stride. LADY ALEXANDRA, far back in the early running closed with a belated rush that just missed. ANNS STEP showed speed from the start, held a slight advantage until the final yards, - then faltered. DO-DO closed with a rush along the inside to dead-heat with TRICK FLIER. The latter rushed z£ "mto contention early and forced the pace most of the trip. TIGER MATT was sent up on the outside in the final quarter mile, neared the leaders and faltered. PRINCE RANSOM flattened out. CORSARIO II. was unable q to keep up. ELAND raced very wide on the final turn. LONE PILOT, had no mishap. DANNAS PENSIVE weakened. QUEENS TASTE was carried wide near the end. POOPCHA broke alertly, was reserved close to the leader for a half mile, responded gamely when roused and outgamed TRIPLE TIME in the final sixteenth. TRIPLE TIME was sent to the front at once, drew clear and was steadied while saving ground, began tiring inside the final furlong, but was held together very well and proved stubborn. MAN BAR closed along the inside to catch tiring horses. KEEPING POSTER remained a long the rail a quarter mile, but lacked a rally when placed under pressure. CELLINI had no mishap. CLOSED ORDER, a forward factor early, flattened out after a half mile. CHEERFULNESS was outrun. Overweight— Triple Time, 1 pound; Keeping Posted, 4; Cellini, 5; Closed Order, 3; Cheerfulness, 2. The latter set the pace from the start and held on stubbornly when straightened. SCIPIO broke alertly, was taken off the pace and reserved to the final mile, then closed willingly. SNORKEL had no mishap. BLUE THANKS, outrun for six furlongs, made up ground along the inside. SAINT NICHOLAS, forwardly placed early, flattened out after six furlongs. The latter slipped through along the inside entering the stretch, came out slightly and was catching the leader at the end. LONG HILL, in hand close to the pace, rallied mildly in the late stages. GOLDEN CLOVER caught tiring horses. DADDY O. forced the early pace, gained the lead and drew out after five furlongs, then weakened. PUEBLO PRIDE showed nothing. BY GONE DAYS had no mishap. LUCKY DOG tired. WARDRIL was never prominent. ROYAL SCOT was outrun. MARINE CHARGER quit. TUBBY B. was sent up behind horses on the first turn, was shut off and showed nothinq thereafter.
