MILLAR— New York Racing Commission secretary, has been named to head the public relations committee of the National Association of State Racing Commissioners. - — — : i NASRC Standing Committees Announced by President Testa Appointments Urged to Keep* Advised on Racing Matters Coming Within Their Scope PROVIDENCE, R. I., June 4. — D. Thomas Testa, president of the National Association of State Racing Commissioners, announced here today his appointments, to the standing committees of that organization. At the same time, Testa, who is chairman of the Rhode Island Racing and Athletics Commission, pointed put to the committeemen that many important problems affecting racing now confront the commissions in various states, and he urged that they inquire into and report promptly to national headquarters any and all developments concerning the sport. Testa, particularly cautioned the committees to keep themselves immediately advised on matters coming within their scope. He emphasized that while racing is the best regulated and governed sport, the commissions have a responsibility to protect the sport and its participants from unwarranted attack and unreasonable legislation, which might affect racing directly or indirectly. Y., i June 4. — At a meeting of the New York State Racing Commission, at its New York offices yesterday, only routine matters were considered. Chairman Ashley T. Cole, took occasion to read to his fellow members, a telegram from D. Thomas Testa, president of the National Association of State Racing Commissioners, advising him of the appointment of various committees to serve the national body in 1952-53, and which I also said, "I am sure you will be happy to I learn of the appointment of Harry J. Miliar, secretary of your commission, as new chairman of the Public Relations Committee of the National Association of State Racing Commissioners.
