Westward, Second Sight Match Speed at Ascot Both Won Last Cranwood Races; Fast Donna Goes in Sixth Event By W. A. CRUSE Staff Correspondent ASCOT PARK, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, June 4. — The Ravenna, an allowance test for four-year-olds and older horses at , about four and one-half furlongs, holds the spotlight on the eight-race card arranged for tomorrow. Nine were named to accept the challenge in quest of a portion of the 00 purse, and it should be an interesting contest. J. J. ONeills Westward and O. I. Beavers Second Sight appear to have a slight edge on their rivals here. Westward was the winner of the Hal Morgan Purse at Cranwood Park. That was on May 17 and at six and one-half furlongs, the Saladin gelding took the top at the break and lasted to be a nose better than Carter and Do-hertys Russell Cave. This shorter distance should be to his fancy as he has a wealth of early foot and can be expected to come out of the gate- on top. Prior to his winning race he finished a well beaten second to Mrs. R. E. Houses Happy Count who is one of the more consistent performers in this part of the country. That, however, was at seven furlongs and over a slow racing strip. Second Sight was two lengths better than the Dorchester Farms Neds Polly in her last start. That was among ,000 and ,750 platers *and the Psychic Bid mare negotiated the six, furlongs in 1:16% over a sloppy track. A return to a best effort from either would make this a real horse race. Others in the field include L. B. Lambs Jeanne H., E. Burwells Go Jeep Go, the Safiko Stables Papaver, W. C. Pricketts Caunsil,. E. F. Lovelaces Roaming Oscar, Mrs. J. E. Coxs Hottimenow and A. Weiss Everbloom. The sixth race, a mile and one-sixteenth event for four-year-olds and older, brings together 13, in all, which could provoke an extremely -keen bit of competition. Two of these in particular, the Ellis Farms Fast Donna and M. Nelsons Brahman Boy would share in the limelight. Fast Donna was a winner of a race under identical conditions at Cranwood on May 28 and in scoring was a length and a half in front of J. Fredericks Royal, Rogue. C. E. Henrys Si Kirk, who is also named to compete in this race, was fourth a good nine lengths in back of the top three. Brahman Boys viptory was also under the same conditions and with the veteran "Willie" Pool in the saddle, earned a neck decision over H. M. Simpsons steady No Delay. , Any one of the others which include Happy Jack, Happy All, Zenabe, Ruddy Glow, Little Fawn, War Fly, Equitime, Katie N., Phantom Jinks and Miss Sway could furnish the bone of contention.
