USC Infielder Gets Tryout With Red Sox Next Week LOS ANGELES, Calif., June 4 UP.— Gary Killingsworth, 20-year-old University of Southern California third baseman, will go to Boston next week for an audition with the Red Sox, his new bosses. Killingsworth, who batted .320 for the Trojans this season, signed a contract with a Red Sox farm clum this week for an undisclosed bonus. He was inked by scout Joe Stephenson. Stephenson said Killingsworth, a junior at USC, was signed to a Louisville farm club contract, but- he will have a tryout with the Red Sox next week. The scout said he had to outbid the New York Yankees, Detroit, Chicago Cubs and several other clubs for the young infielders services.
