J. C. Fernandez Injured In Spill at Beulah Park Suffers Possible Dislocated Hip When Thrown by Mount at Start BEULAH PARK, Grove City, Ohio, May 25. — Julio C. Fernandez, second leading rider of the Beulah spring meeting, with 15 winners, was the victim of an accident at the start of the second race of the Monday program when his mount, Wrong Bid, who had been backed into 8 to 5 favoritism by the crowd, threw the popular Cuban rider coming away from the barrier. Fernandez was given a preliminary examination at the track hospital by Dr. .J. A. Hardie, who diagnosed the riders injuries as a possible dislocated hip. Fernandez was removed to the Mt. Carmel Hospital for further examination. Miss Corral splashed through the muddy track under the handling of jockey B. Clark to score by three and a half lengths and pay 5.80 as the upset winner of the race. The only serious opposition that Miss Cor ral had was the riderless Wrong Bid which Clark kept a wary eye upon all during the running. Previously Colin Knisley had handled Mrs. E. Coxs Go Dutch in a two-length victory in the first race of the afternoon to return .40 as the Cox racer returned to the winners circle for the first time this season. Go Dutch and Miss Corral needed an identical 1:16% to traverse the muddy six furlongs and paid a lucrative Double of 01.20.
