Nine Middle Distance Runners in Ellet Purse Nightingale, As Ordered and Rehearser Match Strides Today ASCOT PARK, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, May 25. — The Ellet Purse at seven furlongs headlines the racing program here at Ascot Park tomorrow afternoon. A field of nine middle distance runners have been named overnight and it shapes up as an interesting test. The Bill Bell-trained entry of M. C. Pierces Nightingale and J. K. Wynkoops As Ordered appears to have a light edge here. Nightingale, who is by the German sire, Nordlicht, won her sixth race of the season last Friday when she defeated He Wolf, a member of this field, by three lengths. That was her first victory of the season here, but previously she had been a winner at Lincoln Downs and at Sunshine Park. As Ordered will be seeking her third vic tory of 1953 and her first over the local course. Since winning two straight races at Lincoln Downs early this spring, she appeals to have lost her winning touch. However, she has been given a long rest now by trainer Bell and an improvement is likely. Rehearser is well suited at the distance and has shown several sharp races over the Ascot strip. On may 15 he was second to Sea Weather, beaten a length and a quarter for all the money. In that race he was forced quite wide at the head of the stretch by Kentucky Comet and lost considerable ground and possibly the race. Slated to meet As Ordered, Rehearser and Nightingale are Oklahoma Time, a surprise winner early in the meeting. Vino Primo, trained by Pete Maxwell, who always sends a fit horse to the post. Beacon Bound, trained by J. R. Tucker, who at best could upset a field of this caliber, Jo Ted, to be ridden by Eugene OKeefe, could share in the purse. He Wolf, who made a strong run at Nightingale the other afternoon at the top of the lane, then faltered in the final sixteenth, and Elfish, who has been a winner at the meeting.
