Jake Kellum, Exercise Rider In California, to Hospital HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., May 25. — Jake Kellum, one of the oldest and most competent exercise riders on the California circuit, is . slated to go to St. Lukes Hospital tomorrow morning for an operation to correct a rupture. Kellum rode races in New York in the 1920s, and it was there that he came to know A. A. Baroni. The young man galloped Top Row for Baroni, and later on Specify, Autocrat and other stars raced by the "Wizard of Reno." Kellum was once under contract to cartoonist Bud Fisher, and it was he who gal-golped Triplicate here a few years ago when that chestnut stallion won the Hollywood Gold Cup for Fred Astaire.
