1 1 ; 1 ; J Imbros Carries Off Will Rogers Handicap Defeats Virtually Every Good Three-Year-Old on West Coast HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood. Calif., May 25. — If A. J. Crevolins Imbros is the sort of a colt he is suspected to being, he is going to make a powerful bid for three-year-old honors at Hollywood Park this summer. The son of Polynesian and Fire Palls, who never started as a two-year-old, registered his third victory in four starts when he sprinted to victory in the Will Rogers Stakes at six furlongs last Saturday before a crowd of close to 50,000 fans. In winning the Will Rogers the Crevolin colt defeated virtually every good three -year-old in the West with the exception of the W-L Ranchs Alis Gem who, incidentally, is the one horse yet to have beaten Imbros. Alis Gem nosed out Imbros in an overnight feature at Tanforan and then went on to win the Sequoia Handicap over the same track and the Golden State Breeders Handicap here. That he can sprint there is no doubt, for in his race last week end Imbros sped three-quarters pf a mile, in 1 :10 and won by almost two lengths from the stakes-winning Atomic Speed. Some of the other good sophomores Imbros defeated in the Will Rogers were Chanlea, winner of the Santa Anita Derby, and such other stakes winners as Hour Regards, Tee Dee Gee and his own stablemate Decorated. Imbros broke a little slowly, but Ray York sent him to the leaders before going an eight mile. Entering the last quarter, the Crevolin horse wore down the pacemak-ing Tee Dee Gee and then held the pace the rest of the way. Atomic Speed came from a good way back to be second as , ; ; 1 r
