ASTEROIDE alternated in establishing the pace, was on the outside entering the stretch, responded to stout urging and outfinished PHARAPOISE. The latter went into command at once, gave way to the winner, regained the lead in the stretch, drifted out steadily and just missed. PERFECT BAHRAM, reserved off the pace under stout restraint, came through along the rail and was put to stout urging, but was unable to make up ground. MISS FORAY came between horses on the turns to better late position. KING TAOS caught tiring horses. GREAT MORNING lacked a rally. The others were never prominent. GELINKA assumed command at once, gave way before three furlongs, remained within striking distance of the leader, rallied under late pressure and regained the lead at the end. CAROLLING drew clear after taking the lead, shortened stride inside the final furlong, held on gamely and just missed. TAM was best of the others. RAIN DEAR S finished stoutly from off the pace. TIGHT BOOTS raced on the outside and was forced to lose ground. STAR PRODUCER showed brief speed. AUNT TEENIE was sent up fast along the turn at the three-furlong pole but failed to make up ground in the late stages. The others were outrun. VELVET EXPRESS raced wide down the backstretch, moved around horses on the turns, but lacked a closing rally. BREAK ON had no mishap. FOLLY MILLS was going strongly at the end. SEAFLASH shook off challenges of SPECIAL NURSE entering the stretch with a clear advantage, but shortened stride and retired steadily. The latter set the pace under steadying restraint, withstood challenges to the final sixteenth before weakening. GUMPTIOUS had no mishap. THE MINOR moved closer after six furlongs but failed to make up ground in the stretch. IMPERIALIST was unable to threaten. REGAL weakened after forcing the pace.
