PETERSEN, rated within striking distance of the leaders, moved readiiy under strong urging and outfinished MY NELL. The latter moved to the winner menacingly in the early stretch and hung in the drive. EVICTED loomed a threat in the early stretch, gave way and came back in an unsound condition. RARE KNAVE was starting his rally when he ran up on the heels of ESMERO midway of the final turn. SINGING BEAUTY attained a clear lead on the final turn and quit. PICADOR was always far back. TISBURY, allowed to race on his own courage through the first mile, moved to the lead in the early stretch and drew clear of TRUXTON. The latter improved his position to engage the leader from the outside, but was not good enough. BEALE STREET saved ground to no avail. QUARTER-MASTER held a clear lead for a mile and a quarter, tired badly and drifted out, slightly bothering both TISBURY and TRUXTON. JOANNS BOOTS weakened. NINTH RACE SUBSTITUTE DECLARED OFF.
