UNITED PRESS 1 NEWS —BRIEFS Big Thrqe Meet July 8 WASHINGTON, D. C, June 22.— The Big-Three Bermuda Conference definitely will be held on July 8, it was disclosed today. If France hasnt picked a premier by then, it was said, other representatives of the French Government will be on hand to talk over East-West problems with Presir dent Eisenhower and Prime Minister Winston Churchill. White House press secretary" James C. Hagerty said he expects Mr. Eisenhower to arrive in Bermuda on July 7. East Germans Continue Revolt BERLIN, Germany, June 22. — • German workers revolted against Communist rule in wide new areas of Soviet East Germany today. The Reds admitted widespread sabotage and strikes. Soviet and East German Communist authorities met the crisis with fixing squads, martial law and bayonets combined with relaxation of some of the controls which had prodded the East Germans to revolt. Truman on Democratic Party WASHINGTON, D. C, June 22.— Former president Harry S. Truman said today the Democratic Party is "in good health and will be when election time rolls around." He said that applies to "1954, 1956, .1958 and after that too." Killer .Pleads Insanity LONDON, England, June 22. — Owlish John Christie, who has confessed the murders of four women, today pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to charges of murdering his 55-year-old wife. The mild-mannered British clerk, called Londons most blood-thirsty sex killer since Jack the Ripper, had to be prompted by his attorney before entering his plea. He is accused of slaying seven other women. Romulo Gets Nomination MANILA, P. I., June 22. — Former ambassador to Washington, Carlos P. Romulo, was formally nominated today as the presidential candidate of the new Democratic Party in its first National convention. Britain Shocked at POW Release LONDON, England, June 22. — Britain has sent a strong note to South Korea expressing its "shock" at president Syngman Rhees release of anti-Communist war prisoners, Prime Minister Winston Churchill announced today. General Collins Flying to Tokyo WASHINGTON, D. C, June 22.— The Defense Department disclosed today that Gen. J. Lawton Collins, Army Chief of Staff, is flying to Tokyo to discuss the Korean military situation with Gen. Mark W. Clark., General Collins is making the journey with assistant secretary of state Walter S. Robertson, who will go to Seoul to confer with South Korean president Syngman Rhee. Cambodia Seeks Independence PHNOM PEHN, Cambodia, June 22.— King Norodom Sihanouk, back from his one-week voluntary exile in Thailand, intends to remain in the western jungles of his kingdom until France gives Cambodia complete independence, it was announced today.
