The latter moved from just off the pace to attain a slight lead briefly nearing the "finish, then gave way. APPLIANCE forged to the front in the early stretch and weakened. IRRISOR lacked a sufficient rally. DUCHESS AUMAR closed willingly from the extreme outside. EIGHT DAYS~faItered through the final furlong. THOMAS PEPPER quit to a walk through the stretch. BILLIES BEAM failed to menace the top, pair while rallying from far back. GENIAL BILL showed an even effort. FAIR BIT rallied too late. VERNA LEE was never a factor. PRIVILEGE weakened in the final stages. WEEP AND WAIL failed to keep pace. YELLOW DOT quit badly after being in front and made it necessary for the riders on LOCKED IN and SECOND LOOK to take up between the half mile and three-eighths pole.
