Hi Billee Seen in Splendid Triumph Defeats Landseair At Monmouth Park Carolyn K. Gelding Shows No III Effects From Broken Bone in Foot Last Season By FRED GALIANI MONMOUTH PARK, Oceanport, N. J., June 22. — Carolyn K. Stables Hi Billee, who suffered a broken bone in his foot last year, injured to such an extent that his career seemed doomed, turned in a corking race today to win the featured 52 Association Purse. Making his second start of the year, the five-year-old gelded son of Jack High — Chaddon Miss was an easy two and a half lengts winner over High Ground Stables Landseair. The latter raced with the leader to the head of the stretcrl, but was unable to continue after that. Third was Bropkmeade Stables Safety, while Bakersfield and My Celeste completed the field. The first four are all eligibles for the Rumson Handicap, the next sprint stake for three-year-olds and up, on July 22, while My Celeste is in Saturdays Molly Pitcher Handicap. Hi Billee, Was a stout choice with the crowd, estimated at 11,146, and paid after running the six furlongs in 1:15% over the sloppy track. .The rains came in earnest after the second race, giving the strip a good drenching, but had ceased by the time the feature was run. Sammy Boul-metis rode Hi Billee in the feature event. Consistent Performer Hi Billee has been a consistent check getter for Carolyn K since being claimed by that stable and last year was in the money 19 times out of 22 starts. After recovering from his injury this season, he raced here in a sprint last week and finished fourth. Landseair and Hi Billee sloshed away from the gate first and hooked up with each other as _ they went down the back-stretch, with Safety, Bakersfield and My Celeste following in that order. Landseair continued to-lead by a light margin around the turn, while Bakersfield started to make his move on the bend. Rounding the stretch turn, Hi Billee went to the lead without urging as Stout went to the whip on Landseair and Burr did the same thing on Bakersfield. Both efforts were fruitless as Hi Billee just drew away and .was never in the slightest danger, being eased as they neared the finish. Landseair continued on along the rail, while Bakersfield tired and Safety came on to regain third money. My Celeste, who was far outrof .it most of the way, closed with a ground devouring rush in the final sixteenth, indicating that she might be a factor at. the longer Molly Pitcher distance on Saturday. Eugene Mori, president of Garden State Park, experienced the thrill of owning a winning horse when his East Acres Seer triumphed in the Fair Play Purse, scoring by a length over H. B. Cohens Mully S. Third in the field was Mrs. Gerard Smiths Nulifier. Mori was present to see his cherry red and white colors carried to victory and the horse was the choice, paying .00 after covering the mile and a sixteenth in 1:50%. J. J. olandos Rock Span, a former handicap performer, was pulled up after stumbling on the first turn and nearly falling, according to jockey Jimmy Combest.
