Open Sesame Goes At Delaware Park Jeffords Filly Vies With Male Foes in Preparation For Rich Distaff Stakes DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del.. June 1. ā€” Walter M. Jeffords Open Sesame, a prominent prospect for the 5,000 added "new" New Castle Handicap and the 10,000 added Delaware Handicap, starts her preparation for those important filly and mare events Thursday when she competes at a mile and one-sixteenth in the feature ,000 Everget Purse. Competition will be keen for the Mahmoud four-year-old for she meets many eligibles for various stakes offering presented during this 32-day meeting. ā€¢ Included in the field for the Everget are the following: Cornelius V. Whitneys Cold Command, Killian Farms Resilient, Mrs. Ada L. Rices Ring King and Mr. Paradise, Happy Hill Farms June Fete, Samuel A. Pecks Potpourri, Gwynn Campbells Browse, Warren P. Griffiths Gweny Gā€ž Mrs. J. R. H. Thourons Royal Governor, and Mrs. Arthur-Whites Battle Wave. Placed in Many Stakes Open Sesame was a good breadwinner last season as a three-year-old, despite the fact that she failed to win a race. She was placed in many of the fine stakes for members of her age and sex, finishing in the second spot over this- strip in the Delaware Oaks. In two starts this year and in morning trials she continues to display splendid speed. She has been idle since May 6 at Laurel, at which time she rallied from last position to beat such allowance company as Gallito and Skeeter II. Cold Command is another who has raced well over this track in the past, winning the Brandywine and returning to place behind Bassanio in the richer Sussex Handicap. He also raced in the Brandy-wine this year but was a disappointment while finishing seventh, seven lengths behind the victorious Southarlington. In tomorrows company he must rate a royal chance of visiting the winners- circle. June Fete, like Open Sesame, is pointing for the rich distaff fixtures to be staged during this meeting and she rates consideration against any company she meets over this track, having shown to best advantage here in her past two campaigns. She last raced at Garden State Park and -was beaten less than a dozen lengths in a 1:09% race in which Talora was the winner by eight lengths. Browse, Royal Governor and Gweny G. have been active during the local session, finishing second, third and last as named. Browse, a steady-going sort, was beaten five lengths by Rustic Billy and Jrield a similar advantage over Royal Governor. Gweny G. was beaten off more than 20 lengths in a dull showing.
