King Bebe Favorite In Fairmount Event Meeting Best Sprinters on Grounds in Allowance Race By J. J. HAHN Staff Correspondent FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., June 1. — H. H. Rendlemans King Bebe, a consistent four-year-old son of Prince Sa-dor who has been right .in the money in. all four of his local .races but has not been able to enter the winners circle, will attempt to score his first victory of the season here Thursday night in the six-furlong Dutch Boy Purse, an allowance event for three-year-olds and upward. The Illinois-bred colt who has suffered bad racing luck in most of his races here, is meeting another seasoned field of runners and included in the Thursday night event are some of the best sprinters at this course. Expected to match strides against the Rendleman horse are J. W. Norwines Mister Plucky, Floyd Whitings Eternal Sam, C. B. Sanders Glenn K, Meadow Lane, Inc.s Dee Mee Dee, Mighty Epic, the representative of O. H. Pohlman, Thistle War, o„wned by the partnership of Cher-adi and Alongi and Mrs. Sam Orrs U. S. Navy. Under the conditions of the race, Mister Plucky, is to carry top weight of 118 pounds. Eternal Sam would have the same weight, but Whiting selected Bruce Brink-ley to handle his star and thereby gets in at 113 in claiming the five-pound apprentice allowance. King Bebe, who has been carrying top weight in most of his recent races, except the Memorial Day Handicap in which he was beaten a head by Fays Reaper, is to carry 115 pounds, two more than Glenn K, a former local favorite and who will be mbakinghis seasonal debut at this track. Dee Mee Dee is next at 112 while Mighty Epic and Thistle War are equally weighted at 111 each and followed by U. S. Navy. U. S. Navy raced once at the meeting here and finished a bang-up second to Hopeful Sam in the Belleville Purse, a five and one-half furlongs race. She drops five pounds off that race and may be the danger, as the mare appeared a little short in her opening race. In fact, U. S. Navy was scheduled to race here last Saturday in the feature but her trainer, Sam Orr, declared her and depended on Dr. Rees to carry his wifes colors to finish third to Bright Imp and Eternal Sam. Mighty Epic performed well in the East this past spring and while he failed to win a race he has been racing with high class claiming horses. His owner thought well enough of him last fall to try for the 0,-000 added St. Louis Derby which was staged at nearby Cahokia Downs. The longest race of the meeting, at one mile and one-quarter is down for the decision. It will be used as the seventh race and drew eight marathon runners." Expected to make the long journey are Big Bomber, Sir Tock; Wonder Worker, Al-hampered, Stop Clocking, Final Edition, Huopolis and Strada. Three-year-olds are to furnish the sport in the six furlongs third race, while two-year-olds are moving into the fifth spot on the program. A field of eight juveniles are entered, including the highly regarded Derange.
