Hold Hearing on Measure * To Increase Ohio Tax COLUMBUS, Ohio, June 1.— A second hearing on a bill aimed to increase the states tax on pari-mutuel wagering was scheduled before the House Taxation Committee here late this afternoon. The bill was introduced by Rep. Ed Wallace, Circleville Democrat, and is being pushed by Gov. Frank J. Lausche. Ohios tax is based on a graduated scale, depending upon the amount wagered daily. Thus, county fairs pay little to the state while the major tracks, such as Randall Park and ThistleDown, shoulder the brunt of the assessments. * Wallace claims* that his bill will increase the over-all tax take for the state to 6 per cent. Last year, the state treasury received 4.99 per cent.
