BAYOU NYMPH, never far back, responded to strong handling during the stretch run ana wore down the leaders in the last sixteenth. PAPPY, a sharp factor from the outset, reached the lend between calls during the drive but was unable to withstand the winner. OBOE took an early lead, set the pace until well inside the stretch, then drifted out while tiring. TWIRLALONG closed fairly well under brisk urging. KING OF CHI. tired during the drive. CORK SCREW had no mishap. COMMOBAR was never dangerous. PONDERS GIRL began sluggishly. SING AGAIN could not keep up. OVER PAR showed little. FAST CAT had brief speed. BULL SKIN, well placed from the start, responded readily when hard ridden through the stretch and. disposing of CELTIC BOY. held OLD MILTON safe. The latter gradually improved position to the stretch, closed fast under punishment but could not overtake the top one. KANAWHA began alertly, dropped back after the start and raced evemy for a half mile, then finished determinedly when set down m the drive but could not reach the leaders. NICKS GAL gave a good performance and had no mishap. CELTIC BOY took an early lead, set the pace to the last eighth mile, then weakened. BUSHY saved ground while racinq prominently to the final furlona, then failed to stay TEN-0-TWO began slowly. HONEY JAR showed nothing. COTTON TOP was never prominent. CHARLIE BOWMAN was through early. PAT HARMONY had early speed but bolted leaving the upper turn. COMMO-LADY raced evenly within striking distance of the leaders to the stretch, took command when settled for the drive and held MAY CHALLENGE safe. The latter, much used engaging SHE-BLU for a half mile, drifted to the outside at the final turn, closed well when straight for the drive but could not get to the winner. SHE-BLU went to the front early, made the pace to the stretch under pressure from MAY CHALLENGE but faltered during the drive. BETTER CALL raced evenly without mishap. TALON BIG STAR saved ground the entire trip but was unable to threaten the leaders. LUCKY SMARJ was through early. SYCAMORE showed nothing. ROSE OF ROSES raced far back throughout. SIR PUTNAM, well placed from the start, finished resolutely under punishment but was not good enough for EKABA. BARBARIAN went to the front early, set the pace until well inside the stretch, then faltered. DECK raced prominently to the stretch but had nothing left for the drive. SWOOSE, in close quarters soon after the Start, was steadied and saved ground to the upper turn, then moved around horses to take command and, responding to brisk handling, won going away. NEMESIA, well placed from the start, closed strongly under punishment but could not reach the winner, although much the best of the others. BRAU IMP dropped far back after the initial quarter mile, was sent between horses at the stretch turn and finished willingly but was unable to threaten the leaders. HALCOLETTE lacked early foot, made a good bid in the early stretch, then weakened. RONAS failed to respond when set down in the drive. PETRINA raced well to the stretch but had nothing left for the drive. CEBETTE was never dangerous. PASTORAL could not keep up. EMIWAY took command early but tired badly after five-eighths mile.
