HAHN CAHOKIA DOWNS, East St. Louis, 111., May 10. — Due to the uncertain weather conditions in this area the regularly scheduled handicap which was to headline Saturday nights program failed to fill and a substitute feature will be presented. Racing secretary and handicapper Henderson Van Zandt has decided to use the Ladue Purse, which has attracted a capacity field of three-year-olds and over, at five furlongs. It will be run as the seventh race on a nine-race program. In addition to the Ladue Purse the card consists of three distance races with the remainder being run under sprint conditions. Entered in the Ladue are such well-known local favorites as E. J. Millers Low Star, J. W. Norwines Demon Bo, J. L. Clevelands Cozy Cat, James M. Burns Pearl Corral, Sale A; McClungs Power Pal, Harold W. Ostles Bright Imp, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Conners Cleetsie and Mrs. Isalene Ellis Creme-de-Cocoa. Rounding out the 12-horse field are the Bar None Stable and Clem Frank coupling of Mr. Willmes and Shikari, as well as the Frank O. Akin entry of Fire Fire Fire and Big Coupon. Under the conditions of the Ladue, Low Star was to pack top impost of 1 Impounds, but trainer E. J. Miller Jr. elected to claim the five pounds apprentice allowance and ride William McCadden, who has not seen much service during the current session. Since Low Stars connections claimed the apprentice allowance, the weight of honor goes to Mr. Willmes, winner of five races last year, one more than Low Star, who posted four victories out of his nine starts. Three others, Demon Bo, Power Pal and Bright Imp are all in at 113 pounds. There will be no change in post time. It has been announced the first race will go postward ra* .8i3p.p.m. i.CST e = :
