Coronet and LaSalle Nominations Announced. Thirteen Sophomore Fillies in First Balmoral Stakes; 20 in Handicap HOMEWOOD, 111.. May 10.— Most of the Midwests top three-year-old filly and handicap stars have been nominated for Balmorals opening-week stakes, the 5.-000 added Coronet and the 0,000 added LaSalle Handicap, it was announced late today by Racing Secretary Fred Burton. Balmoral opens its 1957 spring season Monday at Washington Park. A small but select roster of 13 sophomore fillies, headed by Kentucky Oaks winner Lori-El. was announced by Burton for Mondays third running of the Coronet, opening-day feature. At the same time, Burton released the names of 20 horses named for the six furlongs LaSalle which will feature Balmorals first Saturday of sport. May 18. Topping the LaSalle roster are E. Gay Drakes brilliant Swoons Son. winner of the Churchill Downs Handicap in his only start as a four-year-old this season, and River Divide Farms Decathalon. The latter, however, is not expected to be ready for the La Salle. Soto and Berkes Lori-El also was numbered among the LaSalle nominees. Others named for the LaSalle and regarded as probable starters by Burton are Hasty House Farms Sea O Erin; Colin MacLeod Jr.s Besomer and Obair, Wal-mac Farms The Warrior, and Rothmore Farms Munchausen.
