I., May 10. — The 0,000 New London Handicap headlines Saturdays program here and brings together six members of the handicap ranks who are all eligible for the rich Lincoln Special, which will be run on closing day, May 20. and will use the New London as their final prep for the 0,000 added prize. Saturdays seven furlongs feature finds Gerald Colella and James Forma s Switch On shaping up as a solid favorite despite his top impost of 126 pounds. Although successful only once this year in his eight starting assignments, Switch On has been racing against the best in New York and Florida in his previous outings. He accounted for the seven furlongs Palm Beach Handicap at Hialeah and followed this up with a pair of thirds in the McLennan and Widener, finishing behind such stars as Summer Tan and Bardstown. Since being claimed by his present owners for ,000 as a two-year-old, the gelded son of Condiment has earned over 50.-000. He has been on the grounds for the past 10 days and has taken kindly to his training chores. Motor Line Dangerous Rival Mclvor Pricketts Motor Line. 116 pounds, looms as Switch Ons most dangerous ri al for top honors in the New London. Considered one of the top sophomores on this circuit last year, Motor Line has looked impressive in his two outings this season. He tow -roped a field of allowance tacers in his first test, reaching the end of five furlongs in 1:00. almost two lengths in front of Satans Sister. In the West Springfield, conceding Rockcastle 12 pounds, Motor Line was beaten three-quarters of a length despite suffering interference in early stretch after being bumped around going to the first turn. In receiving 10 pounds from Switch On. the four-year-old Bimelech colt merits strong consideration. The New England-bred Park Dandy, owned by William Beattie, showed a return to the form which made him the largest money winner bred in this section by trouncing a field of allowance racers in his last start. Carrying 114 pounds. Park Dandy ripped off seven furlongs in 1 :2715-scoring in easy fashion. His assignment Saturday is 108 pounds. The New London field is completed by Peter Fullers entry of Cherokee Chief, 107, and Glen Alden, 103. Cherokee Chief, claimed from Calumet for 2,500 this past winter, won his only local start a few days ago, getting up in the last jump to earn a nose decision over Loose Lip. He drops seven pounds from that winning effort. His stablemate will have to show considerable improvement to be given much consideration in this field.
