Find Takes Top Honors In Premiere Cap Renewal Record Weekday Opening Throng Of 31,888 Views Hollywood Card HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Cahf., May 10. — Bill Winfrey, who the last time he campaigned the Alfred Vanderbilt stable for an entire Hollywood Park meeting, in 1950, won the trainers championship, got off to a good start again yesterday when he saddled his handicap ace. Find, for a 0.40 victory in the 8,400 Hollywood Premiere Handicap. The biggest opening week-day throng in Hollywood history, 31,888, watched Find turn back the favored Llangollen Farm entry of Social Climber and Porterhouse in 1:09 flat. The time was only one -fifth off the six-furlong track record. Fourth was Flight History, part of the Mrs. Ada L. Rice entry. It was Flight History who was first out of the gate. Porterhouse, making a third try for victory in the Premiere after a second and a third place finish in the last two, was far back early, while Due de Fer, second favorite at 5-to-2, broke poorly and was through early, after rushing into momentary contention. Ray York moved up abreast of the leaders turning into the stretch as Mel Peterson swung a little wider to challenge with Social Climber. Under strong urging by York, Find opened a short lead midway of the stretch and then hung on to hold off the fast-closing Llangollen pair. Porterhouse, with John Longden up, was stopped momentarily by a lack of racing room on the turn, but once free he moved with a rush.
