Apprentice Koptyra Up On Daily Double Victors Rides Thats Papa, Okapette for 8.80 Pay-Off at Ascot Park ASCOT PARK, Cuyahoga Palls, Ohio, May 10. — Apprentice jockey Michael Koptyra rode his twenty-third and twenty-fourth winner at the meeting here this afternoon when he was astride both ends of the Daily Double. In the first race he was astride Ypsi-Bee Farms Thats Papa and sent this Papa Redbird gelding seven furlongs in 1:29% to be a length and one-quarter the best of the Audley Farms Cadru and jockey Charles Billeaud. For his maiden victory, a ticket on Thats Papa to win was worth 2.40. Okapette, from the barn of C. B. Carter and trained by the veteran W. P. "Chicken King" Bell, was Koptyras second victory as well as the second half of the Daily Double. While turning on his best pres sure through the stretch, the young reins-man had the four-year-old Okapi-Lake Trout filly a neck in front of the Jo De Lorme Stables, Inc., New Citizen and another apprentice, Ernest Supiran. Mrs. L. L. Hamills Allright Gal was third, another head back but a good half a length in advance of T. Gammons Dainty Dish and apprentice Robert Littrell. In fact, New Citizen and Allright Gal withstood claims of foul by Littrell. The Daily Double as a result of Thats Papa, No. 9* in the first race, and Okapette, who came from the No. 1 slot in the second, was 8.80. Jockey Clarence Roberts, also one of the leading riders at the meeting, again turned in a double saddle victory. In the fourth race he was astride Luscious Fruit from the establishment of M. Salzsieder and rode A. Liebermans Johns Mable to a surprise victory in the fifth. Ypsi-Bee Farm completed a double on the afternoons card when Sal Chiapetta booted Boss John home the winner by two and one-quarter lengths over Spruce Hill Stables Watch Air, while Sonny Mars
