Winnipeg Evening Digest Entering Thirtieth Year WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Canada, May 10. — The Winnipeg Evening Digest, the only daily racing newspaper in Western Canada, will enter its thirtieth year next week. It was on May 14, 1928, when J. Samuel Perlman, now editor and publisher of Daily Racing Form and The Morning Telegraph, founded the Digest, as it is known throughout the Canadian West. Prior to founding this newspaper, Perlman was sports editor of the morning edition of the Winnipeg Free Press, the largest and most influential newspaper in the Canadian Prairie provinces. From the beginning, the Digest was patterned along the format of Daily Racing Form, publishing charts and past performances on major race tracks in the United States and on all meetings in the Prairie provinces. It is the only racing publication that has been sold at all race tracks in the three Prairie provinces since it was founded in 1928. In 1938, the Digest became the property of Triangle Publications, Inc.
