Sonny Mars Shows Liking For Muddy Ascot Going Holds Van Position During Most Of Journey Under Jockey Headley By W. A. CRUSE ASCOT PARK. Cuyahoga Falls. Ohio. May-15. — G. Raspanti and L. Lorings Sonny Mars, a five-year-old Sir Lancelot gelding, showed his liking for the muddy racing strip here this afternoon in the Blue Grass Purse. Jockey Owen Headley rode him to a two and one -quarter lengths lead over R. Fishers Lon and jockey Thomas Latta-rulo. It was the second win at the meeting for the A. Jeanfreau -conditioned thoroughbred. As second choice in the betting. Sonny Mars rewarded his supporters with an .40 mutel, after negotiating the mile and one-sixteenth in 1:53 Vs. A length and one-half behind Lon, which Fisher claimed from Mr. and Mrs. P. Maxwell the time before the last outing, was the Sprucehill Stables Watch Air, odds-on favorite in the betting. Beckers Blen Thorn and apprentice E. Supiran. Viriginia McKenneys Honeyquest and jockey Buck Thornburg were the victorious pair in the opener, the first half of the Daily Double. The seven and eight sequence of the Daily Double was worth 7.40. The weather turned ideal as the afternoons program progressed. The sun came out brilliantly, and a rather brisk, as well refreshing, breeze aided the racing strip considerably. There were 4,208 fans in attendance.
