Swoons Sons chief opponents in the La Salle will be Hasty House Farms Sea O Erin, who was second to Delta in the race last year; Besomer, who trimmed Decathalon in a stakes at Bowie last year, and The Warrior. Dogoon, Swoons Sons older brother, also breezed five furlongs this morning and may go postward Saturday in the La Salle. St. Vincent and Blue Choir May Clash A couple of the nations outstanding grass runners have reached this track and may tangle in the Continental Turf Handicap on June 1. They are St. Vincent, the turf champion of two years ago, and Blue Choir, who finished third in the Continental in each of its first two runnings. They both come from Maryland. Blue Choir was accompanied by Prospectus II. and Middon Trail. St. Vincents travelling mate was Royal Stag. . . . The four-year-old filly, Waikiki, who won the first running of the Miss Chicago Stakes at this track two years ago, got in from Emil Denemarks farm and is being trained by George Alexandra. . . . Sidney LeJeune, a Harry Trotsek jockey development, will ride the horses trained by Phil Johnson at this meeting. They include those owned by Mrs. Russell Reineman, wife of the Balmoral president. . . . Veteran jockey Claude Hooper is back in action after having figured in a spill at Sportsmans Park. Bill Simpson, one of the assistant starters on Roy Dickersons staff, will leave for River Downs Monday. He will do the starting at the Ohio meeting. . . . Much regret was expressed among horsemen at the passing of Reuben White, long-time Hawthorne starter. White died in Kentucky last night following a lengthy illness. . . . Jack Nelson, who had the first mount of his career here Wednesday, is a 20-year-old Chicago boy whose contract is held by his father, trainer Cedric Nelson. . . . Trainer R. A. Lewis has entered a Chicago hospital to undergo treatment, and during his absence the horses owned by Charles S. Handelman will be conditioned by Dave Sazer. . . . Emile Fame and Murray Nierman have purchased Gallant Runner from Reverie Knoll Farm, and Ed Cole will train. . . . M. Pinto sold Challanir to Tom Calumet, and Guy Tipton will train. . . . Owner Frank Grand Sr. is an arrival from New Orleans. He has purchased Devious, Bouncing Check and Picture from E. E. Fisher. . . . John McShane arrived from Kentucky with Faro Bank and Very Sorry. Splendored Heads Large Thompson String Among the 17 horses here in charge of Larry Thompson is the good filly Splendored, winner of the Princess Pat Stakes at Arlington Park last year. Splendored beat Romanita in that race. . . . Trainer Charles Cheny was a recent arrival from New Orleans. . . . The town of Casey, 111., was minus a couple of citizens opening day when Marion Partlow and Clark Cochonour came over for the races. . . . Owner William Rogers is visiting from Paris, Ky. . . . Trainers E. E. Russell and Horace G. Knott are on hand sans horses. . . . Trainer Harold Tinker brought 14 from Florida. . . . The good runner Munchausen is in from Louisville in charge of Edwin C. Roth Jr. . . . Sportsmans Parks Jack R. Johnston left for his Tulsa, Okla., home. He will visit in Florida before returning to Chicago for the harness meeting at Sportmans. His brother, William H. Johnston, Sportsmans Park president, was among those on hand Tuesday. . . . Mrs. Frank J. Baker has received word that Dode Garner, father of the late jockey Mack Garner, passed away in California recently at the age of 92. . . .
