Market Basket Victress In Goose Girl Stakes Closes Gap in Stretch to Beat Tourbillonte at Hollywood Park HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood. Calif.. May 15. — Market Basket, a daughter of Radiotherapy and Sybil, carried the silks of Mrs. Connie Ring to the easiest sort of a victory in the 7,150 Goose Girl Stakes at Hollywood Park Tuesday afternoon. With George Taniguchi at the reins she came from tenth piaee in a field of a dozen three-year-old fillies aifd. in completing the six furlongs in lrlOj, she raced under the wire five lengths in advance of her nearest rival. Tourbillonte took down second honors and Inquisitive was third while Royal Rasher beat the others. Under the conditions of the Goose Girl Stakes, Market Basket, who last winter captured the Santa Susana Handicap at Santa Anita, had to shoulder 121 pounds and under that weight she was conceding from three to nine pounds to her opponents. The manner in which the Ring filly came from behind suggests that she is going to be increasingly difficult to beat as she is sent greater distances. She was a good 10 lengths off the pace, set by Darling Adelle, over the early furlongs, but when Taniguchi brought her to the outside on the stretch turn she took off and circled her field. She was still a couple of lengths off the lead, which Darling Adelle still held, a furlong from the wire, but soon thereafter she was in the van and drew out at will. After pacing the field to the final eighth Darling Adelle stopped so badly she wound up in tenth place. Tourbillonte. Inquisitive and Royal Rasher were forwardly placed throughout the race and were lapped on each other in that order as they crossed the line of finish. The others were far back. Blue Vic. who finished fifth, was five lengths behind Royal Rasher.
