Poncelets Fresh and Fair won his first race in seven starts this year at the direct expense of Herbie Lewis odds-on favorite, Loose Lip. The margin of victory was a neck, and it was the second straight photo finish defeat for Loose Lip: The two, who put up a rousing battle from the head of the stretch, finished six lengths before their closest pursuer in the six-horse field.
