Ohio Notes FORT MIAMI, Maumee, Ohio, May 15. Port Miamis racing director, Robert Leavitt, will le,ave for Hazel Park immediately after the close of the meeting, where he holds the post of mutuels manager. Racing secretary John L. Watkins will depart for Ak-Sar-Ben, Omaha, Nebraska immediately upon filling the races for closing day here. Watkins will assume his duties of clerk of scales, a position he has held for several years at the Omaha track. Edward J. Champagne and George Bul-croft, placing pudges at Fort Miami, will leave on Saturday for Omaha where they will assume their respective duties at Ak-Sar-Ben. Champagne will act as placing judge there while Bulcroft will serve as custodian of the jockeys room. Fort Miami stewards William Kelly and Carlyle Johnson are making plans to leave here immediately after the closing days card. Kelly will return to Detroit where he will act as paddock judge at Hazel Parks meeting which opens May 24. Johnson will I take a short vacation before returning to Faiimount Park where he will serve as steward for the 60-program meeting. Mutuels manager Joseph Kelly will motor to Lebanon, Ohio, to take over the operation of the mutuels plant at the Lebanon trotting meet which is now in progress. Track announcer Tommy Daly will leave for Waterford Park immediately following the close of the Fort Miami meeting where he will take over similar duties which are now being handled for Daly at the West Virginia course by Johnny Daniels. Walter Ogle, placing judge here, is leaving for Cincinnati where he is expected to act in a similar capacity. Ogle will motor to the Queen City immediately after the close of the final days card at Fort Miami. , — • HAMILTON, Ohio, May 15. "When racing ends here Saturday, stewards Bill Shewbridge and Greg Johnson de-| part for their homes in Baltimore, Md. Shewbridge later goes to Monmouth and Atlantic City sessions in New Jersey, while Johnson returns for the long summer session. Steward Jack Kennedy of New York departs Saturday night for Michigan, where he will represent that state during its summer meetings. Race secretary Edward J. Brennan Jr. heads for Maryland when this session closes Saturday. He will make up the Fair Hill programs, then trek to Monmouth Park, N. J., for the racing at that point. Clerk of scales Jimmy Franics, placing judge Warren Wolf and patrol judge Johnny Hughey will be members of the official family at the ThistleDown track when racing ends here. Dave Mowen of Hagerstown and Al Young of Laurel are among the Maryland owners and trainers who will return here for the summers racing. Mowen has had a highly successful meeting to date, saddling five winners. It looks as if the veteran Pete Knisley will be the meetings leading winning rider. During the first 13 days of sport, Pete had booted home 22 winners. The apprentice Jimmy Ring is runner-up.
