► : : — ; ] Lycka Makes Seasonal Debut In Clipsetta at Downs Today Hickman Miss Spots Six t Rivals of Own Sex Weight; Betsy T Looms Main Danger CHURCHILL DOWNS. Louisville. Ky., May 15. — Baylor O. Hickmans stakes-winning Lycka a four-year-old homebred daughter of Royal Gem II. and Portmora. will make her 1957 debut here Thursday afternoon. The Hickman miss will spot seven fillies and mares weight when she goes to the post under 121 pounds in the six and one-half furlongs Clipsetta Purse. Lycka started nine times last year and posted a four-one-two" record while engaging classy company. Her major victories were in the Betsy Ross Stakes at Garden State Park and Atlantic Citys Pageant Stakes. In her last appearance at Churchill Downs. Lycka ran third to Doubledogdare and Queen Hopeful in the Falls City Handicap November 3. In the field named to oppose the Hickman filly are Estate of Sam E. Wilson Jr.s Lady Swords. 109, and Sweet Ties, 112 pounds. Also Sidney I. Crews Commargo, 118; Herve Racivitchs Brookwood, 109; Beverly Brouns Lancaster Rose, 109, and T. Alie Grissoms improved Betsy T., 112 pounds. J. R. Adams to Ride Betsy T., who will be handled in the Clipsetta by Johnny Ralph Adams, Downs leading reinsman, is expected to give Lycka the sharpest tussle. The Grissom mare ran second to Mr. Fantastic in the six-furlong Cherokee Purse May 6, but a length separating the leaders at the wire. Super Devil, Obnoxious. Whirling Blues, Smackover and Smoky Hill were in the wake of the top pair and the race was decided in a commendable 1:11%. Bobby Dever will guide Lycka in the Clipsetta, Johnny Rotz is to be up on Sweet Ties and Frankie Vincent will pilot Lady Swords. Commargo and Brookwood were open mounts late today. Major supporting event on the Thursday program is the six and one -half furlong Discovery Purse for three-year-olds. The Wilson Stables Royal Miche is expected to come in for a large share of tote support when he clashes with Larned Boy, First Mon. Aurecolt, Pat Flyway, Miss Gatesby, Scotian and Bolanda. Larned Boy and First Mon will be coupled in the Discovery as the , P. F. Ternes and Park Deere Stable entry.
