MANUKAY was taken in hand going to the first turn, came to the outside on the far turn and moved into the lead after racing BAR CHIP into defeat a furlong out, winning with plenty to spare. ROYAL BETTY made up ground steadily while on the inside. BAR CHIP tired when put to pressure by the winner DONT SPANK lacked early speed and was never able to threaten the leaders. LEW MAY tired. FIGHTING KING, dose to the pace from the beginning, raced on the outside and closed stronoly in the last sixteenth to get up in the last few strides. BALLYSADARE ! dosed fast whde between horses rounding the stretch turn and finished stoutly but wasnt good enough ABEAM had the lead earlv set the pace to the last sixteenth and then gave way under pressure. GOOD JOY made a fast spurt while on the inside turning for home and took up for lack of racing room SENORITA GAL gave an even performance while racing on the outside FIRST PROMOTION tired Ai* inquiry into the running of the race was conducted by the stewards for possible interference on the streeh turn but the film patrol pictures showed there to be no interference, the numbers remaining as originally posted. YUKON JAKE moved up in a rush going to the first turn, came in slightly but didnt interfere with ADMIRAL VAN who was coming out slightly, took the lead on the turn and, under mild urging in the last quarter, drew out steadily. MANGAM, slow to settle, closed steadily while between horses in the final quarter. ADMIRAL VAN had a short lead going to the first turn, made contact with the winner when he started to bear out slightly but was knocked off stride and held on with good courage thereafter, although weakening. GRAND FIESTA closed some ground. PRINCE GALA weakened even though saving ground. An inquiry was conducted into the race, the stewards finding no reason to alter the original placing of horses, there being no foul committed on the first turn. SUPREME BUSTER moved up fast while saving ground on the far turn, forged to the front entering the stretch and, under urging, was able to hold MR. FIDELITY. The latter dosed steadily while between horses in the last quarter and was making a strong bid in the final strides. HASHCO improved position while on the inside. MIA GAL raced with the leaders while on the outside to the stretch, then weakened. THE LIP made up some ground on the outside. BANK NIGHT was never prominent. Scratched— 1929Spt Boots Darling.
