Offer Juvenile Stakes At Fonner Park Today Size of Track Will Limit Field To Ten Nebraska-Breds Starting By DEAN WILLIAMS Staff Correspondent FONNER PARK, Grand Island, Nebr., May 5. — The Fonner Park Juvenile Stakes will be decided on Wednesdays eight-race program in Nebraskas third city. The ,500 stake drew 20 entries for 16 separate interests. The race is designed exclusively for homebred two-year-olds and will be contested over 14 furlongs. Because of the restricted space on a 5-furlong track, only 10 of these entries will be allowed to start even though the race is a paid stake. The attractiveness of the race suffered greatly because of this rule. Three of the top contenders in the race had the misfortune of being among the four "also eligibles" in the race. Those juveniles that drew out of the race, and will not get a chance to run unless there is a scratch, are Omer Halls Trans Page, Paul Kemlings Kens Smitty. and Oval Naugles Little Amy. All three of these Nebraska-bred two-year-olds are winners at the current meeting, with Trans Page accounting for two impressive victories. The ,500 stake, which will be run as the sixth race on the program, now shapes up as a maiden affair. The prime contenders at this time appear to be Ed Luthers Anne L., D. and V. Beavers Yes Dottie. and Cliff Pierces Lime Mert. They have some good efforts to their credit and will be given a great deal of consideration. The seventh race, an allowance race at QV2 furlongs, has attracted a good field of performers. None Barred, Ivory Fox, Vans Pride, Blue Marsha, Phardude. Im Ex-pectin, and Eyemick rake up the field of seven going postward. Eyemick is the only member of the group that has not won recently over the local oval.
