The latter worked his way up steadily when brought to the outside and finished strongly. TUCKY MISS overcame a sluggish beginning to work her way through between horses and finish full of run. FRANKS MAUDE went evenly. MISS TOOTSIE was never a contender. STARLIGHT 0 F could not keep up. SWEET SISTER refused to leave the starting gate. XALAPA BOY had speed, saved ground, turned back NEW VALOR when headed in the stretch and then had enough left to stall off the belated bid of HANGOUT. The latter, taken far back at the start, was blocked and forced to steady on leaving the backstretch, continued on along the inside when clear to the stretch, where she was brought to the extreme outside to close willingly and could well have been best. NEW VALOR tired after making a bold bid in midstretch. HALF CARAT loomed menacingly in the upper stretch but could not sustain her bid. BAMBOO MONEY was used up in dueling for the early lead. CHANCE GAUGE, in hand for the first six furlongs, came wide thereafter and was up in the closing strides. NONNIE JO saved ground and was gaining slowly at the end. INDAC, along the outside early, continued wide to assume command at the half-mile ground, drew clear while losing ground and was hard pressed to hold OCEAN KING safe. The latter toomed boldly when called upon entering the stretch and, while unable to reach the winner, was clearly best of the others. MYRTIS L. made up some ground but could not seriously threaten.
