General Arthur Gets 123 for Dixie Pimlicosll -Furlong Turf #Cap Saturday Langton Breeze, One-Eyed King 120; Pop Corn, Amber Diver, Jewels Reward 118 By PALMER HEAGERTY Staff Correspondent PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 5.— Brae Burn Farms General Arthur, outstanding turf course development of the winter season in Florida, has been assigned top-weight of 123 pounds for Saturdays 1% miles running of the 5,000 added Dixie Handicap. In weights released by racing secretary and handicapper Charles J. McLennan, the winner of the Bougainvillea and Green Valley Turf Handicaps is being asked to concede from three to 19 pounds in a group of 40 nominees. Grouped at 120 pounds are Cain Hoy Stables One-Eyed King and Tower Hill Farms Langton Breeze. One-Eyed King, after having finished fourth in the Bougainvillea at Hialeah, was the winner of Gulfstreams inaugural running of the Donn Handicap. Langton Breeze was winner of eight races last season and has not made his 59 debut. Below the aforementioned trio, and grouped at 118 pounds, are Greentree Stables Pop Corn. F. Ambrose Clarks Amber Diver and Maine Chance Farms Jewels Reward. The last-named is unlikely to participate but Pop Corn and Amber Diver are considered prominent prospects. Pop Corn Won Prep Event Pop Corn won a conditioning affair over the local grass equalling the 1 1-16 miles course record of 1:44% while operating under 115 pounds. Among the Dixie prospects behind him, in the order named, were Perne L. Grissoms Innishowen, Mrs. H. L. Nathensons Midontrail, Phillip Williams Tuscan Flash, Mrs. S. Helene Sadaccas A Dragon Killer and E. D. Smiths Coupe de Canon. A Dragon Killer, the most likely threat for the Dixie, drops seven pounds down to 114 for the week-end fixture and could prove formidable. He is without a victory in 10 stars this term but has several impressive efforts, including a second to Sharps-burg in the McLennan Handicap. Among the leading prospects for the 11-furlong grass race is Brookmeade Stables Oligarchy, who has seen little action on the grass despite having been second in the Hialeah Turf Handicap as a three-year-old in 1957. He gets in the Dixie with 116 pounds and his presence would add considerable interest to the running. The complete list of weights for the 5,-000 added Dixie Handicap to be decided at 1% miles on the grass at Pimlico Saturday, follows: Horse. . Wt.
