Won ridden out; second and third driving. MELOY, quick to begin and hustled into a brief lead, met persistent contention from BAYDROP in the first half mile, opened up a winning lead when straightened into the home stretch, but was under urging to the end. BAYDROP forced a steady pace for the first five-eighths, then tired. POOP DECK improved his position steadily and came through on the inside during the stretch drive. INHERIT raced forwardly on the outside, hut faltered during the closing eighth while under punishment. HAPPY FIND followed close up for the first half mile, then tired. ZANGWILL was always outrun. BIG ONE took command soon after the start, was rated in front until reaching the home stretch, responded strongly when shaken up in the closing eighth and drew out rapidly at the finish. BRANDY SNAP moved I up menacingly when reaching the home stretch, but faltered badly in the closing eighth. BROADWAY MISS worked her way into contention stoutly alter a slow beginning, but could hot threaten ia the closing drive. MASONVILLE could not better his position in the final drive. TREASURE SHIP was never a factor after ttarting slowly. SPARE TIME had speed for a half mile, then tired. OLTATION was done early. Scratched 11525 Purple Gold, 102; 10323 Background, 100. RIDEAU, in close attendance of the leaders-early, assumed command midway of the turn, sprinted clear when straightened into the stretch and finished with speed in reserve. ROYAL VINTAGE swung to the, outside when approaching the stretch, but could not threaten during the closing stages. BECAUTIOUS was hard ridden and held on willingly after being displaced. ROCK CREST went strongly, but could not stay in the final issue. EDWARD went evenly. ROMOLA was unable to menace the leaders. MISSOURI JIM broke well, but dropped back immediately. SALLY FULLER, sent up on the inside to join the leaders, gained a slight lead midway of the turn, moved clear midway of the home stretch, but tired and had to be vigorously urged nearing the end. CHICK-PEN raced WORTHING into submission, then held on gamely in the final drive. LISTARO bettered his position steadily in the final three-sixteenths and came resolutely at the end. VINGT CINQ was well up from the beginning and held on stoutly. WORTHING showed good speed for the first five-eighths. GAY SYMPATHY was never a factor. ASPERGE and DAINTY ROSE were outrun. Won driving; second and third the same. , DISTRACTING, in tight quarters during the early running, secured racing room on the inside when leaving the back stretch, swung to the outside on HIGH FLAG during the closing eighth, then came stoutly to get up in the last sixteenth. HIGH FLAG raced DESERT CALL and LADY HOCKBERGER into submission, moved clear when Teaching the home stretch, but failed to rally when shut off. SHEPHERD BOY responded nicely when put to a drive and came with good energy. FEUDAL LORD was under pressure, but could not threaten. LADY HOCKBERGER was used up early. DESERT CALL quit. OUR TROUBLE, hurried into a forward position, followed SWAGGER STICK unded slight restraint until reaching the stretch, gained command in the closing eighth and had enough left to withstand MODERN ACE; The latter improved his position readily on the outside and came gamely in the final drive. SWAGGER STICK had good speed while setting the pace, saved ground and held on gamely. CAPTIVE worked his way up on the outside, but could not make up any ground in the closing test. YELLOW METAL, far out of contention for the first three-quarters, raced up rapidly in the last five sixteenths, circled her field and came with a rush to get up right at the end. CUPBOARD, forwardly placed took command when ready, saved ground, but could not withstand the winner. HILLSBOROUGH worked his way up gradually and finished willingly. TROUBANOVA was gaining steadily .in the late stages. FUSCO tired badly after making a bold effort midway of the final turn. FLYING HEELS II. raced evenly. DEN CLAIRE raced below her best form. HAPPY WARRIOR quit to a walk after being overtaken. Overweight Yellow Metal, 1 pound. Corrected weight Fusco, 110; Happy Warrior, 107; Silver Tail, 92.
