F0RMFUL "SPORT At SALEl "" Favorites Fare Well During Thursij days Racing at Rockingham., Boston Brook Makes Good for His Nev Owner in Defeating Up and Up in Fea" tured Londonderry Purse. . SALEM, N. H., June 6. It was formfuf-"" 1 sport, provided at Rockingham Park oil" Thursday. Boston Brook won in the featured Londonderry Purse, a dash at six furlongs, marking the fourth successful public choice of the afternodn to triumph. The son-of BostOnian and Shadow Brook, purchased this morning for a. private consideration by Col. W. A. Jones, scored by better than a length over Greentree Stables Up and Up. Galon Boy, performing in the interest of W. W. Vaughn and up with the pace from practically the outset, was third over Headin Home, coupled with Marcella Mis3 as the E. B. McGehee entry. After a delay of a couple of minutes at the post the field was away to a good start. The winner outbroke his company; but lacked speed to hold his advantage. Headin Home was hustled through on the inside to show the way with Galon Boy his closest attendant. Marcella Miss headed the others while Spixi was right there from the back stretch and had Twenty Karat and , Barcarolle headed. x The early pace began taking its toll, and approaching the stretch it was the Jones standard bearer that had assumed the lead, Galon Boy still held to the runner-up posi-. tion and the early pacemaker barely had his head in front of the Greentree Stable trick, which had moved into contention after having lost ground racing on the outside.. Boston Brook drew clear before the furlong post had been reached. Galon Boy and Up and Up were battling it out for second, racing heads apart. Through the closing stages the Bostonian colt increased his ad- -vantage and Up and Up had shaken off Galon Boy to take the place by a. length. Headin Home tired slightly under pressure and the others had played no serious part when the real racing began. It was another good crowd that visited the course although rain fell at intervals throughout the afternoon to make the track muddy. Smothering his opposition with speed, Harolds Way was the easiest sort of a winner in the five furlongs maiden race that inaugurated the days sport. The finish ound the Monks Way youngster five lengths in advance of Onus, while Spear was an easy third before September Child. Supported with confidence, Harolds Way never gave his vast army of supporters any cause for concern. Dashing to the front immediately after the start, Finnerty lost little time sending him clear and for the remainder of the way it was simply a canter. Onus was always well placed, but simply, lacked the necessary speed to provide the winner with, any sort of argument. Spear went into contention around the turn, but , was found wanting when placed under punr ishment. For a brief spell Irish Hero held to a forward position, but tired steadily in the last five-sixteenths of a mile. The silks of Mr. Nightingale, nom de course of Mrs. T. J. Lewis, made an auspicious debut when Little Miracle, a recent arrival from New York, scampered home well in advance of eight other maiden juveniles in the five furlongs-of the second offering. B. N. Kanes Krona finished second, while C. T. . Graysons Over Yonder was third. i Little Miracle, oh the strength of reported fast trials and the fact that jockey H Richards made the trip f pm New York to pilot the filly, came in for a big volume of play that sent her to the post the choice. The Bud Lerner filly did not belie the confidence placed in her, racing to the front in the opening strides and showing the way throughout, being eased up at the end three lengths to the good. Krona was sent up on the outside and though responding gamely to punishment was never able to offer a serious challenge. Over Yonder came through on the inside at the stretch turn and responded in resolute fashion when called upon. :
