ELDEE BEST AT MONTREAL Big Crowd Watches Sport Decided Over Sloppy Track at Blue Bonnets Eldees Third Win. MONTREAL, Que., June 6. Mrs. K. Lauras Eldee, four-year-old daughter of Campfire and Nancy Clay, raced to her third victory of the meeting and marked herself the best horse at the track, when she accounted for the Mount Royal Hotel Handicap, feature of the twelfth day of racing at the Blue Bonrtets course today. Leading from start to finish, Eldee had a three lengths margin over L. Boyers Tee Off "at the end of the mile. Sir Michael, E. Bowies good home-bred and winner of the Quebec Kings Plate, was in third place, a length and one-half back and five lengths before L. Surprenants Golden Princess. W. T. Monteiths Doer and Chaste Morn completed the field of six. A good crowd was in attendance for the program which was decided over a sloppy track, caused by the heavy rains of the forenoon which continued until just, before post time for the first race. The management of the Mount Royal Hotel presented a handsome silver cup to the owner of the winner. There was a slight delay at the start caused by the bad actions of Doer, and the starter ordered him to the outside. The field got away in good order and Eldee raced into command in the first quarter, followed closely by Sir Michael and Golden Princess, with Tee Off in fourth place. In the run down the back, stretch Eldee had advanced to have a two-length lead and was under steady restraint It. was. not until well into the stretch that the positions were changed. Here Eldee and Sir Michael came wide to find better footing and Tee Off moved through near the inner rail into second place. Beecroft, astride the winner, shook her up sharply arid she again drew away to an easy victory. Tee Off made a determined effort to. reach the winner but to no avail. Sir Michael held on well although tiring badly. Golden Princess was through after going three-quarters. Jockey A. Prain suffered a shaking up when on the way to the post in the seventh race Wednesday. Cudchic reared up and fell back on him. He was replaced by jockey S. Beecroft for the event but was able to fulfill his engagements Thursday.
