The latter raced on the outside of his opposition throughout, but finished gamely. GAY DAYS ran an even race, but never threatened the leaders. BEST BUCK found the route too far. HOWTIZ moved up strongly on the inside rounding the stretch turn, came to the outside of ALCOVE and took the lead when an eighth out, drawing away easily thereafter. ALCOVE had no excuses and was doing her best at the end to stall off OUR SHIP. The latter closed courageously on the outside through the stretch. BRILLIANT MISS showed a fair effort.
