QUINCY LADY showed good early speed and, although bothered slightly in the stretch, continued well and bested STAR BESS at the end. STAR BESS was sent forward steadily on the outside in the last quarter and finished on almost equal terms with the winner. NOIR LIGHT opened up a good lead in the early running, but tired near the end. LUCILLE H. showed a fair turn of speed. LITTLE MISTAKE was outrun. COL. EPINEL began rather slowly, then got through an opening on the inside to take command, but tired in the stretch. MALIA failed to improve her position under punishment. OUR CAROLYNE, ridden with poor judgment, 1 . 1 was rushed to the front in the depecst going on the inside after breaking slowly and quit badly in the stretch.
