TAUNTON WINS AT AGAWAffl Takes Best Race on Program, With Tack Second and Black Ribbon Third Weather Good. AGAWAM, Mass., June 2. G. L. Hamiltons Taunton carried his owners colors to victory in the sixth race in what proved to be the best contest of the afternoon. Ridden by jockey E. Tucker, the winner was.a length in front of J. McNamaras Tack, which in turn was a length and a half in advance of Black Ribbon, from the Mrs. H. L. W. Sauer string, while Big Play was foux-th to finish. Ideal summer weather prevailed, while the attendance again increased over the previous day, which likewise showed in the play which passed through the "tote." Taunton got away well but jockey Tucker immediately took him back of the early pace, being content to race along within striking distance of the leaders. On the first turn Big Play skirted the inner rail to open up a length lead, closely pressed by Kendal Green, while Black Ribbon was right at their saddle cloths. Then came Taunton. After going a half mile, Kendal Green commenced to tire and Black Ribbon moved up to press Big Play. Taunton also made his move and was traveling in a fast manner well to the outside of the leading pair. Entering the stretch, Taunton had put away Big Play and Black Ribbon. Then a new menace loomed up. - Tack, which in the earlier stages had been far back, came with such a rush that for a time the supporters of Taunton were uneasy but Tucker still had something left and, calling on Taunton, the latter drew clear to pass the judges pagoda still a length in the fore.
