SEEK SUPREMACY AT OMAHA Chojnacki, Shultz and Simmons in Close Fight for Prizes Offered by Ak-Sar-Ben. OMAHA, Neb., June 2. Jockey Herb Simmons, veteran western rider, has taken a new lease on life during the current Ak-Sar-Ben meeting and is well up on the jockeys list. Simmons was the outstanding pilot of Mondays sport at Ak-Sar-Ben field when he rode three of the seven winners. Simmons is riding free lance at the meeting and may fight it out with apprentices Chojnacki and Shultz for the prizes to be awarded the leaders at the end of the meeting. Apprentice Chojnacki, a Chicago lad, who won the jockey prize at Aurora during the recent meeting at that track, is leading the Ak-Sar-Ben riders with eight winners while Shultz, who won the Bay Meadows prize, is second. Jockey George, Burns, who piloted Indian Broom to third place in the Kentucky Derby, does not seem to be able to get going. Following a big Saturday and nice Monday, a large crowd turned out at Ak-Sar-Ben field Tuesday afternoon. The weather became cooler following a heavy downpour Monday night and the track was heavy for the first time at the meeting.
