DETROIT DERBY PROSPECTUS Outlook Bright for Great Race, With Some of Best Three-Year-Olds of Year in It. DETROIT, Mich., June 2. The Detroit Derby, to be run June 13, is beginning to shape up into a great horse race. Duval Headley, who arrived today with the first division of Hal Price Headleys horses, stated that Hollyrood would run in the Belmont Stakes Saturday and then be shipped here for the Derby. He stated that the horse was improving daily in his training and that he thought he was not far away from the form which he displayed last fall. A letter was also received from Dan E. Stewart stating that he was shipping Dnieper, the property of Mrs. P. A. B. Widener, within the next few days, and that he would ship another horse with him. William Hurley, in charge of the western division of E. R. Bradleys horses, also wired that he was bringing in addition to a Derby candidate several other horses to run during the period previous to the Derby. Word was also received indirectly from the East that Jack Healy would bring two of the Whitney representatives. President Clarence E. Lehr and F. M. Alger, Jr., will leave for New York Friday night to witness the Belmont Stakes and will contact the eastern owners there with a view to securing a truly representative list of entries for the Derby. A. G. Tarn, who spent Monday in Detroit looking over Rushaway, notified the management that he would be glad to give his horse a public workout between the races Friday afternoon. All horsemen who have seen Rushaway say that he came out of his gruelling double Derby with no apparent harm and that he looks better now than he did at Arlington Downs. Rushaway is really the "if" horse in the Derby. With three Derbys to his credit already, those who were a short time ago of the opinion that he might be outclassed by the eastern contingent, are now willing to admit that he might be a dangerous factor in the race. It looks from present prospects as though the Derby will bring to the post ten or twelve starters and will be like its predecessors one of the great horse races of the year.
