CLIPSETTA STAKES GALLOPS Candidates for Saturdays Renewal Seen in Light Works at Covington Course. LiATONTA, Ky., June 2. Six candidates for the Clipsetta Stakes, which will be decided for the fifty-fourth time Saturday at the Latonia course, were out this morning during the training period, but nothing of a sensational nature was accomplished. Reidinger Brothers Nancy R. turned in the best trial of the lot, accomplishing a handy move of three furlongs in :37. Working from the barrier, Perlette, one of J. W. Parrishs three cligibles for the five and a half furlongs spin, went a half mile in :19, going the first quarter in :24. The Parkview Stables Texas Rose turned out a handy half in :51Vr while A. B. Hancocks Lilymaid went the same distance in :52 in handy manner. Mrs. Joe Houstons Nogalo left from the barrier for a five furlongs test, traversing the half mile in :48?-; and going out the additional furlong in 1:02, breezing. The severest test of the day was that of Alkit, A. C. Ernsts candidate for the stake, she being called on for a six furlongs work which she completed in 1:17, handily. J. T. Taylors Planetoid, a stakes winner this year which arrived from Belmont Park Monday, was on the track for a gallop but nothing was attempted in the nature of a speed test. It is likely that a fast trial will be attempted either Wednesday or Thursday morning with the gray daughter of Ariel and LaChica. The Dixianas Woof demonstrated her fitness for the impending engagement by accounting for the allowance race on Monday afternoons program at the Milldale course.
