BERGERE worked her way up steadily in the last three-eighths, closed with good energy on the outside through the stretch and wore down JEWELL DORSET inside the last sixteenth. The latter raced into the lead in the opening few strides, drew away into a commanding advantage, then tired slightly through the stretch, hut was unable to withstand the bid of the winner. TRAUWINA, in closest pursuit of the pace for most of the way, was unable to improve her position when placed under punishment. SWIFT FLASH was unable to reach the leaders during the opening five-sixteenths, moved up smartly thereafter and showed good speed through the stretch. RETIRED raced to the front in the opening sixteenth, withstood a determined bid from TUG BOAT in the first half mile and held NARISE safe through the stretch. NARISE, restrained for the first half mile, came willingly in the last quarter mile. MISS SUBWAY, away fast, was unable to make up any ground through the stretch when placed under punishment. LUM JOY, outrun early, closed a big gap. SWAP dropped back after showing speed for the first eighth. TUG BOAT moved tip in menacing fashion on the inside leaving the back stretch, was in the deeper going next to the rail and retired steadily in the last quarter mile. GREENOCK, under steadying restraint while following the pace, moved up fast when reaching the stretch, disposed of KEOKEE and drew out through the last eighth. KEOKEE moved through on the inside to wear down MY KIN and gained a slight lead and, despite holding on well, was unable to stave off the closing bid of the winner. MY KIN displayed the- most speed for almost the opening half milp and was unable to keep up thereafter, despite coming out into the better going in the stretch. SANDY BOY was unable to keep pace with the leaders and closed some ground in the final quarter mile. FESTOON was going gamely in the stretch run when too late. BACHELOR DINNER raced to the front soon after the start, drew clear and, rated along under slight restraint, was roused in the stretch and held sway to the end. EBONY LADY, away fast, lacked speed to maintain her advantage, dropped back, but tame stoutly through the closing three-sixteenths. ONRUSH, hard ridden, forced the early pace, was under punishment in an effort to overtake the leader and was unable to make up any ground in the drive. FITTER PAT, a trailer early, closed ground through the stretch run. OPEN RANGE faltered in the closing quarter mile. GOLDEN FATE had brief early speed. GREAT HASTE was never prominent. MALBROUK, in nearest pursuit of the winner practically from the beginning, held on stoutly to the end. ROUSTABOUT was closer up than usual, was placed i:ndcr pressure nearing the stretch and just managed to get up in the closing strides to outfinish BOSTON BROOK. The latter broke well, was well placed and hard ridden, but tired "in the closing few strides. SWAMP ANGEL, SUNANAIR and ONE CHANCE were never prominent. Overweight One Chance, 1 pound. SEAWICK, restrained early, was unable to make up any ground when called upon, though holding on gamely. HICKORY LAD raced far back all the way. LONG BIT raced to the front at once, drew away into a long lead and, under a vigorous hand ride, lasted to stall off the fast closing MT. HOOD. The latter, far back early, responded gamely to punishment and was overtaking the winner rapidly at the close. ALLENFERN moved up on the outside in the back stretch and could never reach the leader. BULL MARKET, restrained early, moved up threateningly on th inside in the stretch, but was down in the deeper going and was unable to keep pace in the last eighth. REGIS PLAY- was far back early and made up some ground in the last quarter. ONEILL had early speed, only to drop back in the last half mile. WOULD DARE trailed the field until swinging from the back stretch, moved up steadily on the outside, raced into contention midway of the turn and, wearing down LADDIE STONE when reaching the stretch, held him safe to the end. LADDIE STONE raced to the front soon after the start, drew clear and, despite holding on stoutly, was unable to keep pace with the winner in the final drive. SCOTCH PEPPER, restrained early, moved up steadily in the last half mile, saved ground in the stretch and continued with good courage. HAPPY EASTER moved up menacingly approaching the stretch, although unable to make up any ground through the closing eighth under punishment. GENERAL FARLEY had speed for three-quarters, then tired.
