MY MODEL, well up from the start, took a good lead after leaving the back stretch and, saving ground rounding the stretch turn, had enough left to withstand the closing challenge of BUD SMITH. The latter swung rather wide on the stretch turn, but came gamely thereafter and showed a good effort. NORMA CLARK showed a good turn of early speed and raced well to the finish. COLONEL B. TANKIE, off well, followed the pace of STAR BESS until well into the stretch, then went to the front and won under mild urging. STAR BESS opened up a good lead while making the pace, but was unable to resist the winner. ST. IVES closed some ground. ARVANNA could never get to the leaders, but went evenly.
