I DETROIT TURF NOTES 1 As a final stiff preparation for the Chicago Derby, Sir Jim James was worked nine furlongs in 1:54 Monday morning. Court accompanied him the opening mile, which Sir Jim James covered in 1:41. J. Tommy Taylors Planetoid, an eligible for Saturdays ,000 added Moslem Temple Stakes, breezed three-eighths Sunday morning in :35. Hal Price Headleys Whopper, which is being prepared for the ,000 added Pont-chartrain Handicap, to be renewed Saturday, June 27, breezed a mile in 1:41. He was accompanied by Baby Sis and ran the quarter in :24, the half in :48 and three-quarters in 1:14. Hal Price Headley, owner of Hollyrood and Sparta and a large string here in charge of Duval Headley, came from Lexington with a party of friends. For permitting Hereward to cut across his field at the lower turn in the second race, Monday C. Parke was suspended for ten days. He also was assessed 0 for not saluting the judges when he returned his mount to the stand. Walter Fenwick, who brought A. G. Tarns Rushaway here from Latonia, Sunday, left for Suffolk Downs to take charge of the eastern division of the A. G. Tarn stable. After spending several days in New York, Benny Creech was expected to return here Monday night to look after the larger string he has in training. E. W. Duffy, local owner of Sir Jim James, a candidate for the Chicago Derby, plans on leaving here the latter part of the week to see his horse run in the feature stake of the meeting at Hawthorne. The promising youngster Robert Conley, in the employ of Mrs. A. M. Creech, who has been in the Womans Hospital here for nearly a month, is rapidly improving and expects to leave the hospital shortly. Conley broke his leg while galloping Miss Petrina the first week of the meeting. The King Ranchs Split Second, which finished fifth in the Detroit Derby, was returned to New York by trainer Max Hirsch, Sunday.
